5 Quick Tips For An Instant Energy Boost

It’s 3pm—the dreaded afternoon slump. You feel your eyelids starting to droop, and you contemplate pouring another cup of coffee. While it’s widely accepted (especially in NYC) to be hooked on caffeine, there are many natural, non-caffeinated ways to boost your energy.

Bite into a lemon

Rather than having 5 cups of coffee during the day, try tasting the citrus of a lemon. The tart flavor is a natural pick-me-up.

Get peppy with peppermint

Whether it’s chewing peppermint gum, smelling peppermint oil, or using peppermint scented body lotion, peppermint is a powerful energizer.

For every one cup of coffee, drink two cups of water

Nothing zaps your energy faster than not getting enough fluids in your body. Staying hydrated is important to maintain high energy levels.

Natural sunlight

If you work at a desk all day, it’s important to get outside even for 15-20 minutes to soak up some Vitamin D. During the winter, you can replace your regular light bulbs with what is known as a “day light” or “blue light” to reap the benefits of natural sunlight.

Energy-boosting snack

There are many foods that also act as natural energy boosters such as nuts, peanut butter, and nonfat yogurt. These snacks are high in protein and low in sugar, which will give you longer lasting energy.

How do you stay energized? Do you have any natural energy boosters that aren’t on this list?
