Tide washing away 2014

At the end of December, I always reflect on the past year. I look at this time as an opportunity to let go of what’s not working and to pinpoint what I need to focus on going forward. This year has been more challenging than others, but I’ve never lost sight of the light at the end of the tunnel. Rather than dwelling on the negative, I find that it’s more helpful and productive to emphasize the positive.

Here are three of the best things that happened to me in 2014:

  1. I adopted my little dog, Waldo, from North Shore Animal League. Waldo spent his first seven years in a cage, so his adjustment to our home wasn’t easy—he had health and anxiety issues, he had never been trained, and it took a while for our other dog, Romeo, to accept him. There were times I thought I would have to find a new home for both dogs. Our lives aren’t perfect yet but it all worked out, and I love Waldo to death! He’s definitely part of our family now.
  1. Speaking of family…just like everyone else’s, mine can be challenging, but when the going gets tough I know I can count on their support. We’re always there for each other.
  1. Another big source of support for me has been the Rewire Me community. I’m amazed and honored by how much it has grown over the past year. We’ve certainly had our ups and downs (and I’m a lot more tech-savvy than I was a year ago), but I’ve learned so much that I could probably start another business…although I wouldn’t dare!

Things change, people come and go, but I’ve learned some valuable lessons and met some wonderful people along the way and I’m grateful for that. If 2014 presented you with struggles or obstacles in your own life, I hope you found some good in them.

Looking forward to 2015!
