Show your support and spread the word about heart health

Did you know heart disease and stroke cause one in three deaths among women each year? What’s even more surprising is that 80 percent of these deaths are preventable.

Today is National Wear Red Day – a day dedicated to raising awareness about women with heart disease and stroke – and I encourage all of you to wear something red to show your support and help spread the word!

We can’t overestimate the value and power of the heart

The heart is so much more than a muscle. The energy radiating from your heart is incredibly powerful. So powerful in fact, it generates the largest electromagnetic field in the body.

The heart also has its own intuitive intelligence. “Heart intelligence,” as defined by the Institute of HeartMath, “is the flow of awareness, understanding, and intuition we experience when the mind and emotions are brought into coherent alignment with the heart.”

You can’t live without a heart or live well without showing your heart

Heart health improves physical health, which improves quality of life – in turn, promoting your ability to enjoy and create all of the good things that come from listening to your heart, such as music, art, poetry and love. Accessing your heart’s energy is the only way to truly give and receive love.

As part of my leadership role in the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women campaign, I’m excited to announce that I will be launching my own campaign called “Open Your Heart.” Calling all heart experts to come along on this mission! Stay tuned for further details.

Meanwhile, I hope you join me and go red for women! Wearing red is a reminder to care for yourselves, for your hearts and for each other.
