Every day my goal is to live life with heart—to listen with my heart, to feel with my heart and create heart-felt connections with others. The heart is more than a muscle; it has a rhythm and purpose. A healthy heart not only improves physical health, but it’s only when you listen to your heart that you can experience the beautiful things in life—love, music, poetry and art. Most importantly, it’s the heart that connects us all.

I’m drawn to learning ways I can protect my heart, and sharing them—because heart disease runs in my family. I’m so passionate about raising awareness about the disease that I’ve been asked to join the leadership team for the American Heart Association for the Go Red  For Women campaign. Not to worry I’m still participating in the 60-mile Heart Ride of the Hamptons in May—can’t let my team down! I do this for my mom, I do it from my heart and for the muscle that needs love as well as medical health to function.

Did you know approximately 35 women die each day from cardiovascular disease in New York City alone? Eighty percent—that’s right 80%, of these deaths are preventable with awareness and simple lifestyle choices.

Go Red For Women educates women across the globe about stress and mindfulness as it relates to cardiovascular disease. And this year AHA will be hosting a Go Red For Women Yoga Series the first Tuesday of October, November and December. As part of an overall healthy lifestyle, yoga can help lower blood pressure, increase lung capacity, improve respiratory function and heart rate, boost circulation and most of all reduce stress!

If you are interested, grab your yoga mat and join the AHA on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Click here to reserve your spot.

Lastly, as part of my leadership role, I’m excited to announce that I will be launching my own campaign called “Open Your Heart”. Calling all heart experts to come and join me!!! Stay tuned for further details!
