Sweet Dreams
When a hectic day saps your energy, New Yorker Isaac Theil won’t hold it against you; he’ll hold up against you. The 65-year-old retired accountant was riding the subway home when a young man seated next him fell asleep and slumped on his shoulder. Rather than wake the snoozing stranger, Theil allowed the man to enjoy a 30-minute nap undisturbed. “I knew he was exhausted,” Theil said in an interview with WABC. One fellow rider was so touched by the incident that he snapped a photo of the pair and, unbeknownst to Theil, posted it to the social news site Reddit. The image went viral as a visual lesson in empathy and compassion. “One good deed. Help somebody else. How fantastic can it be?” Theil said.
