Growing up, Dr. Barbara Oakley learned firsthand how it feels to struggle with math. But when she saw how her lack of mathematical knowledge significantly limited her options, she became determined to retrain her brain to master these subjects.

Barbara Oakley, PhD, PE is a professor of engineering at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. Her research focuses on the connection between neuroscience and social behavior, and in her book A Mind for Numbers: How to Excel in Math and Science (Even If You Flunked Algebra), she explains how to apply this knowledge to your daily life.
