Embrace Your Authenticity

When you’re authentic and you speak from your heart, people pick up on that. Because they have nothing to protect or defend, nine times out of ten they will be as authentic as you are. —Rose Caiola

Mental exercises help build new brain cells and strengthen the connections between them, which is why here at Rewire Me we find it beneficial to challenge the brain with new activities every week. This week’s mental workout is about embracing your most authentic self. Learn to be more confident in who you are meant to be.

What To Do

Write down all the characteristics of yourself that you like. Once you’ve made your list, read it out loud in front of the mirror and remember to speak with confidence. It’s a good idea to get in the habit of doing this exercise every day because it reminds you of who you are, which helps you to embrace your authenticity and uniqueness.

Why To Do It

Social scientist and author Brene Brown writes that authenticity is a powerfully attractive force. “Authenticity is actually a collection of choices…that we make every day. It’s the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.” The fact is: you can best channel that strong, certain tone of voice when you have the freedom to be yourself.

I like this idea of writing down the things we like about ourselves and being our own best friends!

Rose, I love how you zero in on a key facet of how to live a better life, and then offer such great advice in just a few paragraphs. It’s like a highly nutritious, low-calorie snack for the mind. I can’t wait to come back for more!!
